The Borgias on Showtime
The family that inspired Mario Puzo to write The Godfather and The Family is coming to Cable TV!
Showtime has a new series lined up to replace the hit series The Tudors.
The Borgias starring Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo Borgia, Colm Feore as Irons arch-rival Guilaino della Rovere who later became Pope Sixtus. Francois Arnaud will also star as Irons on screen son Casere Borgia. Michael Hirst creator and writer of The Tudors will also be writing most of The Borgias episodes. The Borgias producer, Neil Jordan has long wished to create a series based on the Borgia Family.
Many had hoped for a continuation in the Tudor dynasty but are still happy to have any type of historical made for TV series.
Also coming to STARZ is a new series Camelot due to air in 2011.
